167. Edmund Singleton Kirkpatrick was born on 22 Feb 1810 in Jackson Co., Tennessee. He died on 10 Sep 1876 in Lawrence Co., Arkansas.
Edmund, who is called Edward in many records, was born in Jackson Count y, TN 22 Feb 1810 and died 10 Sep 1876, Lawrence Co., AR. He was the c hild of John Kirkpatrick's first marriage to a woman who has not been i dentified. Edmund himself was married twice. His first wife, whom he m arried in 1830 in Illinois, was Anna Barnett Woodrome, daughter of John a nd Jemima (Edwards) Woodrome. She was born 3 Mar 1814 in TN and died i n late 1860. Most of the Children came from this union. The second ma rriage to Mrs. Elizabeth (Smithee) Goacher took place in 1861. She was m other to four children by Edmund but only one is identified. In additi on to being a farmer, Edmund Singleton Kirkpatrick was a brick and ston e mason. He built some of the first houses in Batesville, AR. In 1835 t he family moved to Independence County, AR, and in 1836 to Washington T ownship, Lawrence County, AR, where they are listed in the 1850 census. T he census lists him as Edward Singleton Kirkpatrick, but he is obviousl y the same man. We know that he served in the Black Hawk War in 1832, a nd in 1850 and 1855, he applied for bounty land warrants based on this s ervice. The applications for warrants came from Lawrence County, AR.
The census data did gives his wife as Anna B. and gives her age as 37.

Edmund served as a private under Captain William J. Stephenson, 1st Bri gade, 2nd Regiment, Illinois Mounted Volunteers, in the Black Hawk War. H e mustered at Hennepin, Illinois and served briefly. According to the ' Centennial History of Arkansas', Edmund was at the Battle of Kellogg's G rove and had a horse shot out from under him. He was awarded a bounty l and warrant for the service and applied for a second which we are not c ertain he received. His brother, William T. Kirkpatrick, served with t he same unit.

He was married to Anna Barnett Woodrome (daughter of John Woodrome and Jemima Edwards) on 15 Oct 1833 in Perry Co. Illinois. (25) Anna Barnett Woodrome was born on 3 Mar 1814 in Illinois. She died in 1860. Edmund Singleton Kirkpatrick and Anna Barnett Woodrome had the following children:

child490 vi. Milton Francis Kirkpatrick was born in 1844 in Arkansas. He died about 1870. Civil War records show Milton Kirkpatrick enlisted in the Confederate A rmy, and was paroled and discharged at Jacksonport, Ark. in 1865; he di ed approximately 1870.
