From the Tri-City Trib, Tuesday, May 4, 1982: Anderson rites today. A rchie
Anderson, 71 of Cozad died Sunday at a house north of Cozad. He w as born Sept.
5, 1910 in Cozad. He was a member of the united Methodis t Church in Cozad,
a member of B.P.O.E. 2250 and the Lexington Eagles C lub. He is survived by
his wife, Eva, of Cozad; three step sons, Raymo nd Gronewold of Farnam, Richard
Nicholsen of Cozad and Donald Nicholsen o f Las Animas, Colo., one stepdaughter,
Mrs. Robert (Louise) Hintz of Sa n Diego, calif., one sister, Mrs. Don (Florence)
Schmeeckle of Cozad, s ix step-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral
service will be W ednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad with
Pastor Ke ith Hedstrom officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery
in C ozad. A memorial has been established to the Cozad Community Hospital.
V isitation is today (Tuesday) from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Berryman Funeral H ome.
He was married to Eva M. McCance (daughter of Robert D. McCance
and Myrtle S. Huffman) about 1970.

Obituary from the Gothenburg Times, December 8, 2004: Eva M. Anderson, 9 3,
of Cozad, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital. S ervices
will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Berryman Fu neral Home Chapel
in Cozad, with Jeremy Jech of the Cozad Christian Chu rch officiating. Burial
will be at the Cottonwood Cemetery northeast o f Cozad. Visitation will be held
from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (t oday), at the Berryman Funeral Home in
Cozad. Anderson was born on Dec . 2, 1911, east of Cozad, to Robert and Myrtle
Hoffman McCance. She ha d attended several schools and graduated from Cozad
High School. Durin g her younger years she and her sisters formed a musical
group, playing f or various functions and on the radio. In 1932, she married
Ed Groenew old and the couple made their home on a farm site north of Cozad.
Foll owing a divorce, she married Donald C. Nichelson in 1938. The couple h
ad made their home north of Cozad. Her husband preceded her death in 1 969.
She later married Archie "Swede" Anderson, who had died in 1982.
A nderson was employed as a cook at the Cozad Hospital, and she was a mem ber
of the Cozad Christian Church. She enjoyed attending garage sales, r estoring
antiques, reading, gardening and collecting music, according t o family members.
Anderson was preceded in death by: husbands---Donal d Nichelson in 1969, and
Archie Anderson in 1982; two great-grandsons-- -Jeffrey Andrews and Colton Thayer;
four sisters---Enid, Era, Erma and E lmo; a brother Robert. Survivors include:
three sons---Raymond (Geri ) Groenewold of Farnam, Dick Nichelson and Don (Sandy)
Nichelson, all o f Cozad; a daughter, Louise Hintz or Cozad; sister, Eula Waller
of Flor ida; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A memorial has
be en established.
