Kirkpatrick was born of Feb. 22, 1917 in Yuma County, CO, to Geor ge and Maud (Ivey) Whitcomb. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1 936. Following graduation she attended Kearney Normal School, receivin g her teaching certificate. She then taught school for one year in 193 8 and worked as a telephone operator in 1939. On July 17, 1939, she wa s united in marriage of Lewis Wayne Kirkpatrick at Orleans. To this un ion, four children where born. Kirkpatrick and her husband made their h ome at North Platte from 1939 to 1941, at Scottsbluff from 1941 to 1945 , and at Gothenburg from 1945 to present. She was a member of the Goth enburg United Methodist Church were she was active in the Women's Club, E vening Circle, Utile Dulce, Funeral Committee, Church Building Committe e, and a former Board Trustee. Kirkpatrick was an accomplished pianist a nd a talented seamstress, according to family members. She made numero us costumes for the Community Theater, her children and her grandchildr en. She was a wonderful homemaker and the primary caregiver for her mo ther and father-in-law for many years. She was preceded in death by he r parents; her husband, Lewis; a brother, McClellan; granddaughter Kati e Ivey Huckfeldt.
